butterflies

The other day I felt like butterflies were going to fly out of me so I painted them. I didn't have any more canvases so, like the resourceful college student that I am, I dug out a poster board from the recycle and painted on that. I'm pretty happy with the result, though I might go back and paint some more layers of butterflies.

Leila, Rachell, and I have also been working on this resident runway thing for a few weeks now and tonight was the show! I wish I had pictures of the ugly thrift clothes that they gave us to work with.. We started out with some ugly red slacks, a light yellow button up, a tie, and a terrible silky green dress with purple flower print on it. The project was to rework these clothes and come up with an outfit using all the clothes provided in some way and using only up to 3 accessories which could be things like shoes, jewelry, belts, hats, etc. Here's some pictures.

Most of the ones Ivan took for us didn't come out that great so hopefully Adan has some better ones from his sweet camera with the stalker lens. Also, you can't really see the back but it's essentially an open back. I'm pretty proud of the product. =]

We got all of our friends to come and vote and we ended up winning two tickets to see RENT.

On Rachell: our reworked dress, vintage Moschino belt, and Pedro Garcia platforms
On Leila: aa one piece, my target skirt from the little girls section, H&M tights, Docs
On me: aa tank, necklace from Ryan, old wet seal shorts, target tights and flats

I need to go to bed now I have to start studying for my art history midterm and working on my theology project tomorrow! Alsoooo, I'm hosting Leila's radio show tomorrow with Michael since she's at home right now. tune in from 6 to 8 by going to http://www.live365.com/stations/kxlu3?site=pro

3 hours and mango cake

I've been pretty busy doing things this weekend. fun things, not work. =]

On Friday Adan, Leila, Salina and I went to LACMA by way of the bus. It took us three hours to get there. What a pain. But it was pay what you want, so the poor college students each payed only a dollar for admission, not bad.

Saturday Rachell, Ivan, Leila, and I went down to Red Ribbon Bakery to get my mango cake that I have been waiting for all week. They didn't have it by the slice so now I have a mango log in my fridge.. After, we wandered over to Melrose for some pure luck BBQ "pork" sandwiches, tattoo browsing, and vintage shopping.

Today we're just waiting around for the red carpet to begin and planning our road trip, which is going to be AMAZING, I'm working on the playlist right now. =]

Sorry I didn't take any outfit pictures this weekend; you missed my epic Rocawear sailor dress with my brown equestrian boots..maybe next time I'll remember to take a picture..

SARAH

anyway..This weekend I went home again and I didn't get my tattoo this time, but I did get to see my best friend. =]

I hope your Vday was good

I know mine was.
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of my outfit, i sorta kinda actually broke my (family's) camera. =/ I guess ill hafta take mac pictures or something. Or just do lots of writing &pictures of inspiration&such.

So. I really want to organize my clothes and properly take over the closets in the backroom so that I can really see what I have to work with and create outfits with greater ease.
I also want to never be bothered with homework ever again. I don't mind going to class and learning because I love learning, its really the homework that kills me. It ruins my afternoons that could otherwise be filled with more learning of another type. Something that isn't in the state standards. Where I can pick my teachers(/inspirations).

later doods
(hopefully sooner than later)

This is Sarira in her natural habitat:

Please note the Hello Kitty jama-lambs.
&the massive amount of books.

Im not quite sure why I decided to divide all these posts up, but mostly i think it was easier to upload the pictures in sets.

PRINCESS

This weekend I got two of my favorite purchases possibly ever. The first is a sweater that I got for $9 from the maternity section at Target. I swear Liz Lange makes these things just to torture me..

sweater: Liz Lange Maternity from Target, shirt: forever 21, jeans: Nordstroms, boots: a consignment store in Colorado

The other purchase was a present from my parents. I think it was made for me..

PRINCESS necklace: Betsey Johnson

Also, the ball is rolling and hopefully this will be adorning my ribs before this Saturday is over! His feet are my favorite part :)

i am an lazy arsehole, please forgive

Sarah I hope the sight of me writing to you will help you forgive my lack of posts this whole week:
What you don't see is dad running around trying to finish Sarah's care package before the postal place closes.
Approximately Wednesday/Thursday:

t-shirt - aa via buffalo exchange, sweater - used to be mom's i think, shorts - forever21 via Hollie's hand-me-downs, tights&flats - target.

Sarira gave me this book and I've been reading it out loud to her and Hollie for the better part of the last 17 hours when I received it. It's really relatable and Lesley is just really cute, in a brutal way.  She is also besties with ChloĆ« Sevigny.

On Saturday we went to a SweetSixteen (typico) where the attire consisted of "club wear".
This was our final take on it, you should have seen our other choices:
Sarira is a cross between a kitten and Jenny Humphrey pre-runaway and minus the raccoon disguise, obvs.  She is sitting next to me and re-reading Dear Diary.  She is probably losing my place as we speak.
On me: v-neck - aa, jeans - pacsun, shoes - Sarira's closet
On rira: shirt - aa via buffalo exchange, vest - forever21, leggings - aa, heels - Vince Camuto
On Hollie: shirt - probably BP, jeans - forever21, heels - steve madden

I've been cooking more often these days. I made vegan burritos:
And some sort of japanese-ish noodle soup with black beans and kale:
A blog post is not complete without a picture of Ellie, especially since i just had a horrifying dream concerning her well-being:
I am now going to watch Brideshead Revisted, it looks good.
